Anthony Thorpe Wins the 2016 ESG Geotechnics and Geomechanics Prize at Brunel University London

The fourth year MEng student impressed the judges with a high level of technical knowledge and dedication to furthering his understanding of geotechnical engineering through the project completed for the attainment of his Masters degree.

ESG sponsored the prize with the aim of supporting some of the country’s most promising geotechnical students and helping to develop the careers of future generations of geotechnical engineers. The prize criteria not only considered academic excellence in geotechnics, but also the demonstration of project management skills, initiative and innovation to reward and encourage the development of attributes necessary for the workplace.

Further to the sponsorship of the award, the geotechnical facility at Brunel University London will be renamed ‘The ESG Laboratory’. Members of the ESG team will also provide guest lectures at the university, allowing them to share their experiences of the professional environment with students.
