How have you found the apprenticeship here at SOCOTEC?

My apprenticeship experience has been amazing, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The apprenticeship has made me learn so many new skills that will help to benefit my long-term career, as well as learning so much about myself in the process.

    What did your programme entail?

The business administrator programme with TIRO consisted of coursework and online sessions with my trainer. I also would have regular meetings with other apprentices from SOCOTEC to help support each other throughout our apprenticeships. Once I had completed all my coursework I had my EPA (end point assessment). The EPA consisted of a three-stage exam which includes one written exam and two interview-based exams.

What are your next steps for your career?

The next steps which I am taking in my career is to begin my Level three Management course here at SOCOTEC.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship at SOCOTEC?

Yes, I definitely would. I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship experience with SOCOTEC.

What accomplishment you have achieved during your programme are you most proud of and why?

I feel that I have accomplished a lot during my time here so far at SOCOTEC. I have learnt a lot of new skills, as well as information about the labs and the lab testing which is carried out, which I feel has educated me and supported me in my day to day job. I am also proud of the Green canopy project which I have been a part of and is still ongoing. As well as being  proud of myself for getting two distinctions in my apprenticeship with my overall pass grade. Out of work during this duration I passed my driving test which is an accomplishment.

What advice would you give to our current apprentices?

Sometimes times can be challenging, but when you reach the end you will be so proud of yourself for sticking with it and working hard.

What is your new job title and what are your responsibilities?

My job title is now Materials Administrator for Field and Materials testing. My responsibilities are ensuring that all the material reports are coming in from the lab on the due dates. I also report all of the lab sheets and send out the results to the client. I have also been training a new apprentice here at Uxbridge.
