SOCOTEC UK Takes Delivery of Project Atlas – A Game-Changer for Geotechnical Operations
Our Ground Investigation team has officially taken delivery of Project Atlas – the first major item of plant in the 2025 Reimagining Program.
Designed to enhance efficiency and versatility on site, Project Atlas is a multi-functional site mule that adapts to a variety of operational needs.
The transformation of Atlas has been an impressive feat. As seen in the accompanying images, the base unit underwent extensive modification by a specialist subcontractor, working closely with our team to ensure the final result met our operational needs. The result is a cutting-edge piece of equipment designed to revolutionise our geotechnical capabilities.
Project Atlas: Multi-Purpose Innovation in Action
Water Cart Functionality – A 5,000-litre water cart with ground-level fill and empty capabilities, integrated jet wash facility, an anti-freeze tank, and an insulated mono-pump.
Flatbed Site Mule – With a simple turn of the twist locks, the tank can be removed, transforming Atlas into a flatbed vehicle featuring 360-degree fall arrest and tie-down points.
Drill Rig Carrier – Engaging the tipper and ramps allows Atlas to transport a rotary drill rig to position, drop it off, and return for additional equipment.
Mobile Site Facility – By lifting on a custom 10-foot container, Atlas serves as a mobile site unit for hydraulic packer testing, sample logging, and other fieldwork. The integrated pull-out ladder ensures safe and efficient access.
