About Darren Makin
Darren is a Chartered Scientist and is the Ground Investigation (GI) division’s Geoenvironmental Lead with an expertise in the investigation and assessment of contaminated land and undertaking human health and controlled waters risk assessments.
He has extensive experience in all aspects of contaminated land investigation assessment with a particular emphasis on environmental management and impact assessment, geoenvironmental site investigation design, delivery and assessment.
He has assisted commercial and residential developers with their planning applications and supported, residential, permitted development schemes and civil infrastructure, overseeing significant major infrastructure projects across the UK including utility pipeline schemes and nuclear developments.

Darren has been the GI Geoenvironmental Lead at SOCOTEC UK since 2022 but has worked within the business in various roles. Prior to working for SOCOTEC he previously worked as a Contaminated Land Consultant for companies such as AMEC Foster Wheeler (formerly AMEC Environment and Infrastructure) and CL Associates.
