ESG, the UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services, has been awarded a Silver Award for Contractor Safety Excellence by Drax Group plc.
The Drax Safety Conference 2016 was held on 2 March at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster and recognised the performance of contractors over the last year. ESG was nominated in the ‘less than 16,000 hours on site’ category for its work at Drax power station in Selby, North Yorkshire.
ESG has supported Drax in its goal to reduce carbon emissions for the last seven years, and in March 2015 was awarded a five-year contract to continue solid fuel testing and analysis services. In addition to work carried out on site, ESG provides sampling of incoming fuel cargoes at strategic port locations.
George Bradley, business manager, Energy & Waste Services, ESG, attended the conference to receive the award where Drax praised the team’s exemplary attitude towards Health & Safety. Speaking on the evening George said:
“We’re proud to be able to say we have not experienced a single Health & Safety incident of any kind, despite the fact that our team work in a variety of situations, often at ports and remote fuel storage locations.”
James Clay, operations director, Energy & Waste Services, ESG commented: “Recognition of our safety performance by Drax is a great testament to the conscientious approach of the ESG team to their safety responsibilities while on site. We have worked in partnership with Drax for a number of years now and Health & Safety has always been a top priority.
“My team and I are delighted to receive this award which reflects ESG’s culture of encouraging each employee to take ownership of their safety, as well as that of their colleague’s.”
