In light of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, employers have been advised by the UK government to facilitate their staff working from home, while employees whose role does not allow them to work remotely are permitted to continue working while adhering to strict social distancing guidelines.
During this interim period where many organisations are not fully operational, it is an ideal time to enhance your employees’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) via online training.
SOCOTEC’s specialist team of Health & Safety consultants have always been equipped to provide face-to-face and classroom-based learning at both its dedicated training facilities and at customers’ premises nationwide. While the current situation has made training difficult at this time, SOCOTEC has been working hard to develop alternative, innovative solutions to ensure that you can still access and receive the training you require. From short 20-minute modules through to fully accredited and internationally recognised IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications, there are a vast array of e-learning courses on offer to suit your individual requirements.
SOCOTEC’s Health & Safety Consultancy can deliver a range of training courses in a virtual and remote format directly to you and your staff at a suitable time and date, allowing you and your staff to get ahead of the surge in demand for training once the UK fully resumes its business operations.
IOSH
A number of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) courses can now be delivered via virtual or remote training sessions, with our team of highly experienced and qualified trainers able to deliver your chosen online syllabus straight to staff working remotely. Courses will be delivered in short sessions, interspersed with regular breaks over an extended period of time, with various quality and security arrangements in place as outlined by IOSH. Please note that some of our IOSH courses – such as Working Safely and Managing Safely – are already available as full e-learning qualifications.
CITB
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has declared that any delegates whose existing Site Safety Plus Site Manager (SMSTS) or Site Supervisor (SSSTS) certificates are due to expire – and will subsequently require refresher courses in the next few months – will have their certification date extended until classroom-based training is back up and running.
As an alternative option, SOCOTEC is now able to deliver virtual SMSTS and SSSTS refresher courses, enabling your organisation to save valuable time that would otherwise have been spent waiting for face-to-face training to resume once businesses return to normal. Please note that there must be at least two delegates and no more than 10 in attendance for this course to be delivered. Similar IT arrangements to the IOSH suite of courses apply, although access to course materials and exam arrangements will differ.
Should any of your staff be looking to participate in CITB’s Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness course, SOCOTEC can also deliver this on a virtual basis, with separate arrangements to be made for the completion of the exam paper.
UKATA Asbestos Awareness
SOCOTEC is unable to deliver face-to-face or classroom courses such as UKATA’s Asbestos Awareness training in light of current social distancing guidelines. However, we can instead provide an extended e-learning module which contains the exact same content, and the certificate is valid for 12 months.
Qualsafe First Aid Training
Due to the practical nature of Qualsafe First Aid qualifications, SOCOTEC does not have any alternative methods of delivery available to deliver these courses. Delegates already booked or looking to book onto these courses will be notified once face-to-face training has recommenced.
Additional Training
A considerable proportion of SOCOTEC’s health and safety training courses – such as Fire Safety, Manual Handling Principles and Work at Height – are also available for delivery via remote/virtual technologies. What’s more, in addition to our vast library of e-learning courses, SOCOTEC can provide single modules or carry out a full licence arrangement (comprising over 20 online modules) for larger companies for a one-off fee.
