We've Achieved a 50% Reduction in PCB Reporting Limit for Oils
Mon 07/15/2024 - 17:07
Our Engineering and Oils team are delighted to share that we have reduced our reporting limit for Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) content in oils.
After a successful validation process, we have reduced our reporting limit from 20mg/kg to 10mg/kg.
This reduction will allow our clients to use their UKAS accredited test results for the re-use of oils. Oil suppliers in the UK have agreed not to supply oil with a PCB content greater than 10mg/kg.
PCBs are man-made chemicals developed in the 1920s and used up to 1981 when they were banned in the UK due to their toxicity. PCBs were manufactured as blends called Arochlors® and due to their superior electrical and non-flammable properties, were used intensely in the electrical transformer industries.
