The Building Safety Case (BSC) framework is a set of requirements for buildings that aims to improve safety, especially after the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. The framework applies to:
- High-rise buildings: Any building that's at least 18 meters tall or has at least seven stories
- Care homes and hospitals: Any building that's at least 18 meters tall or has at least seven stories
- Existing buildings: Any building that meets the height criteria, even if it's not new
- Major refurbishments: Any high-rise building that's undergoing significant renovations
SOCOTEC UK is one of four companies awarded a framework agreement by the Health & Safety Executive to assist the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) with Higher-Risk Buildings (HRB).
