Strategic Compliance Audit
SOCOTEC delivers strategic compliance audits for organisations in the infancy stage of developing their safety management systems, helping them ensure both regulatory compliance and workforce safety.
We provide a comprehensive, detailed report featuring a clear, prioritised action plan, along with full support to guide the implementation of recommendations. Our goal is to help organisations achieve legal compliance, helping to build a strong foundation for ongoing safety management.
Benefits:
SOCOTEC’s strategic compliance service provides organisations with a clear, actionable report on their current compliance status, along with tailored recommendations. Where applicable, these recommendations aim to help clients achieve industry best practices or explore innovative enhancements, strengthening their reputation within their sector.
HSG65 Audit
SOCOTEC supports clients seeking external assurance that their safety management system aligns with HSG65 and reflects a strong commitment to workplace safety. Using the Health & Safety Executive’s ‘plan, do, check, act’ approach, we help organisations integrate health and safety into their overall management practices, balancing systems with behavioural aspects for a comprehensive approach.
The move towards plan, do, check, act, achieves a balance between the systems and behavioural aspects of management. It also treats Health and Safety Management as an integral part of good management generally, rather than as a stand-alone system.
Similar to our strategic compliance audits, we provide a detailed findings report, accompanied by a clear action plan that highlights areas for improvement or action needed to meet HSG65 standards and strengthen the safety management system.
Benefits:
Conducting an audit against the HSG65 standard showcases your commitment to health and safety, reinforces legal compliance, and ensures that your safety procedures are effectively implemented throughout the business.
The four audit finding levels are categorised as follows:
Inadequate
The Company/Department/Area that was audited has demonstrated serious instances where control design and/or effectiveness needs significant improvement through immediate action.
The identified instances are serious enough to cause prudential concerns which will require significant time and effort to remedy.
Matters which require immediate attention at the time of the audit. These issues generally relate to non-compliance with Regulations or an Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and which could attract enforcement action if left unattended.
Needs improvement
The Company/Department/Area that was audited has generally not been effective and accordingly there are numerous and/or significant areas where effectiveness needs to be improved.
The areas needing improvement are not serious enough to cause prudential concerns if addressed in a timely manner.
The practices and controls do not consistently meet generally accepted leading practices.
Satisfactory
The Company/Department/Area that was audited has generally been effective;
however, select areas of the business needs significant improvement to enhance the control environment.
Robust
The Company/Department/Area that was audited has been effective.
There are some insignificant areas where effectiveness needs to be improved.
The practices and controls meet generally accepted industry practices and current professional standards.
ISO 45001
SOCOTEC supports clients aiming to achieve the internationally recognised ISO 45001 health and safety management system standard. We begin with a comprehensive gap analysis and provide a clear roadmap to enhance your safety management system, supporting your long-term goal of certification.
Similar to HSG65, ISO 45001 follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle and High-Level Structure (HLS) for easy integration with other management system standards. This standard covers key areas including leadership commitment, worker participation, planning, support, operations, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Benefits:
ISO 45001 is an internationally recognised standard that will provide your organisation with a robust framework to proactively manage health and safety risks, prevent workplace incidents and create a safe working environment for your employees.
By achieving ISO 45001 certification your organisation will be able to demonstrate its commitment to the safety of your team, strengthen its reputation and obtain a competitive edge in the market.
