SOCOTEC presents a fundraised donation totalling £1550.39 for Teenager Cancer Trust.
The UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services presented the charity with the donation this week, which was accumulated as a result of fundraising activities that took place throughout 2018. Staff members across SOCOTEC sites were encouraged to dress informally on set Fridays in exchange for a small donation. Additionally, charity raffles have been held at various offices.
Each year, SOCOTEC employees vote for a chosen charity to support in which all fundraising proceeds are donated. Teenage Cancer Trust was voted as the chosen charity of 2018 from a shortlist of 10. Charities are shortlisted based on the organisation’s charitable commitment percentage; the percentage of total donations spent in direct relation to the charitable mission, as opposed to administrative expenses.
Teenage Cancer Trust creates world-class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so they don’t have to face cancer alone. Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to making this happen.
John Sage, HR Director, SOCOTEC UK, commented:
“Through funds raised from Informal Fridays and other activities, SOCOTEC is delighted that, as a company, we have been successful in raising over £1500 for Teenage Cancer Trust, a truly deserving cause.”
