Congratulations to Our Colleagues on Their Success at the British Drilling Association Awards!

This prestigious event recognised the hard work, dedication, and innovation that our team brings to the ground investigation industry.

Two members of the SOCOTEC Ground Investigation (GI) team were presented with awards on the night, recognising their contribution to the industry at opposite ends of their careers.

Edward Hopkins, Main Grade Engineer from our Maidstone GI team was recipient of the Rising Star Award. Edward was put forward for his enthusiasm, leadership and problem-solving abilities, particularly when it comes to health and safety on site and has been instrumental in fostering positive relationships with clients and his team. Edward is a deserving winner of this award, and we are exceptionally proud of what he has been able to achieve since starting his career with us in February 2023.

Peter Reading, Geotechnical Consultant for our GI team was presented with the Lifetime Contribution to Industry award for his unwavering dedication to the geotechnical industry across his 54 years of experience. A lifetime of achievement doesn’t come close to summarising Peter’s contribution to geotechnics, but it begins to illustrate the depth of his passion, expertise, and tireless commitment to advancing the field.

In addition to the individual awards, SOCOTEC also received high commendation in the Equipment Innovation category for both the development of the low bearing pressure window sample rig, created in collaboration with Alpha Plant & Equipment and Moorend Ltd, and our ongoing OpenGround Data Collector digital information capture development.

The BDA Awards serve as an important acknowledgment of the high standards in the drilling industry, and to have our team members and innovations recognised in this way is a true honour. Their success reflects not only their individual skills and expertise but also the company values of collaboration, continuous improvement, and setting new benchmarks in the industry.
