Rail Excellence: Securing the East Midlands Railway Contract
Tue 06/04/2024 - 09:58
We are delighted to announce that our dedicated rail team has successfully secured the East Midlands Railway (EMR) contract, marking a significant milestone for our Rail team!
This achievement not only reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional services but also underscores our dedication to fostering long-term partnerships with our clients.
The contract entails the implementation of Legionnaires’ Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 compliance measures at EMR stations and offices, over the next four years. Safety & reliability in the various water systems across EMR’s facilities is paramount and therefore our dedicated rail team has been entrusted with establishing a robust monitoring program to effectively manage and mitigate any potential risk in this area (eg Legionella growth).
Stringent compliance measures and proactive safety protocols will be in place to safeguard the health and well-being of EMR passengers, staff, and visitors, while upholding the highest standards of safety and reliability across all railway environments.
Our involvement in the bidding process reflects our longstanding collaboration with EMR on depot projects. While we previously worked with EMR on station projects, the water monitoring aspect was integrated into the customers FM (Facilities Management) contract. Recognising the necessity for thorough L8 compliance, in 2023, we partnered with Annette Perkins and Steve Tindell at EMR to address this requirement. As a result, the L8 component was separated from the FM (Facilities Management) contract and opened up for tender.
Our Team Involvement
Our team's involvement is led by our rail account manager, with support, local knowledge and experience of Mark Lunnon, positioning us as the preferred partner for this project. Under the expert guidance of Richard Kirkham, the Bretby field team, led by Mark in project management, has positioned us as the preferred partner for this project. While Richard's involvement will be adjusted to focus less on the tender stage, our team's expertise and relationships remain integral to our success.
Nicola Atkinson, Rail Account Manager said “We are immensely proud of our long-standing presence within the rail sector and securing a new contract with EMR demonstrates our continued quality and customer focused approach to Environmental compliance. We are looking forward to working with Annette and the team at EMR”.
Significance for SOCOTEC Rail and EMR
This contract win not only demonstrates our capabilities in delivering high-quality services but also highlights our commitment to ensuring compliance and safety standards. For EMR, it represents a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Beyond the contracted work, there are potential opportunities for additional services such as remedial works and tank cleans, providing avenues for cross-selling our expertise in water hygiene and asbestos management.
